The Wandering RV (thewanderingrv.com) is owned and run by BFA, LLC, an Iowa limited liability company. In this policy, “we” and “us” means BFA, LLC.
This page covers four things:
- what information the site collects;
- how ads and affiliate links pay for the site;
- the limits of the advice in our articles;
- how to contact us.
What we collect
We don’t ask you to create an account. There are no comment forms on the site. Most visitors never give us any personal information.
If you email us: we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you, and we don’t sell it or add it to a mailing list.
Automatically: like most websites, our server and the services below receive technical information when you visit. That includes:
- your IP address;
- your browser and device type;
- the page you came from;
- the pages you view.
Some of this is collected with cookies, which are small files your browser stores.
Services that collect information on this site
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and how they find the site. Google receives your IP address and usage information through cookies. We don’t use it to identify you personally. To opt out, use Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Google AdSense (advertising). Ads on this site are served by Google:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.

Affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link (see “How the site makes money” below), the company you visit, or the network that runs its program, sets a cookie or adds a code to the link. That code tells them the visit came from us. They see your activity on their site, not on ours. The networks we use are:

- Awin (which absorbed ShareASale)
Site security and performance. These tools process IP addresses and request data to keep the site running:
- Kinsta (our host)
- Wordfence (security)
- WP Rocket (caching)

- New Relic (performance monitoring)
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. The site is written for adults.
Your choices
- Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
- Ad personalization: use the Google and aboutads.info links above to opt out of personalized ads.
- Questions or deletion: if you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted (in practice, that means any email you sent us), write to info@thewanderingrv.com. We’ll answer within 30 days.
How the site makes money
The Wandering RV is paid for by ads and affiliate links. We don’t charge readers, and companies don’t pay us to be included in an article or ranking.
Affiliate links. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy or book, we may earn a commission. It doesn’t change the price you pay. The main programs are:
- Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Outdoorsy. We earn a commission on some RV rentals booked through our links.
- AvantLink and Awin. These networks run affiliate programs for a number of outdoor and RV retailers.
Each article that contains affiliate links says so near the top, before the first link: “We earn a commission if you buy or book through links on this page.”
Ads. Google AdSense places display ads on our pages. We don’t choose the individual ads, and an ad isn’t an endorsement.
Our own experience. We’re working through older articles to remove first-hand claims we can’t confirm. New articles say plainly when they’re based on research, and we check specs and prices against the maker’s website where we can.

Everything on this site is general information, not professional advice. That includes towing and weight figures, insurance and financing explainers, prices, and anything about safety.
